Office of the Student Body President
The Student Body President of Rutgers University-New Brunswick, or President of RUSA, serves as the official representative of RUSA and the undergraduate student body of Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Directly elected by the Student Body every spring semester, the Student Body President is responsible for leading and overseeing the Student Assembly, chairing its executive committee, serving as a point of contact between the student body and administration, advocating for student concerns at the university through federal levels, and representing the student body at various campus and external events and meetings.
19th Assembly Student Body President: Christopher Godoy
Christopher Godoy (SAS' ‘26) is a proud first-generation student at Rutgers University-New Brunswick studying Political Science and Economics. Christopher was elected in April of 2025. Passionate about student advocacy and giving back, Christopher has dedicated his entire undergraduate career to advancing student representation at the university, state, and federal levels, promoting campus resources, enhancing civic engagement, increasing transparency and efficiency in student government, and much more. Under his leadership, he aims to not only continue many of the efforts he has been working on but also tackle issues facing our student body and organizations, including but not limited to affordability, sustainability, wellness, safety, and diversity.
As a loyal son of Rutgers, Christopher uses his experiences as a student and member of student organizations/programs to best enhance his contributions to shared governance at Rutgers.

Did You Know?
Approximately 30% of Rutgers-NB students are first-generation college students.
As a proud first generation student, I’m honored to recognize and celebrate the incredible ambition, resilience, and success of my first-generation peers at Rutgers. Their journeys and leadership represent courage to pursue higher education, to overcome challenges, and to create new paths for themselves and their families. This month, lets all take time to honor the achievements made by ourselves and our peers, share your stories, seek resources, and reaffirm our commitment to building a campus where every student, regardless of background, feels supported, seen, and empowered to thrive.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to honor the strength of survivors and remember those who have been harmed by domestic violence. As a campus community, it is important to look out for each other and come together to stand firmly against all forms of abuse. At Rutgers, the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (VPVA) plays a vital role in supporting survivors and promoting education, prevention, and healing across our campus.
Join me and VPVA throughout this month in turning this campus purple, and work towards a campus community where every student feels safe, valued, and empowered.
Remember—you are never to blame for a crime that was committed against you.
